Alan Ray Littell

August 5, 1947 - October 20, 2016

Alan Ray Littell of Norfolk was an Army and Navy veteran who showed marvelous patience and made the quality of those who knew him better as he endured ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He passed away quietly quietly on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a long term resident of Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital. The son of Forrest Ray Littell and Alma Pauline Hamilton Littell, he was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Penny Lee Anderson Littell.

He will live on in the hearts of his son, Shawn Patrick Corazon Littell, his wife, Jennifer Marie Thomas, their 4 children, and Patrisha Ann Marie Littell, a granddaughter. Alan was the youngest of 3 children and is survived by his siblings, Bonnie Ray Littell and Larry Lee Littell. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Alan was an excellent vocalist and family historian and spent many hours while bedridden merging family records with his computer. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ALS Research Foundation.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
