Alexcia R. Colden passed away peacefully in her home on March 16, 2017. Alexcia was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Edward A. Colden, Sr. and the late Naomi Parker Colden. Left to cherish her memory are her father Edward A. Colden, Sr. and Eva; sisters Jacqueline Thweatt and Margaret Colden and brothers Edward A. Colden Jr. and Daniel S. Curry; great-aunt Mildred Smith; aunt Fratius Johnson and her husband Howard; and uncle George Henry Colden. She was the aunt to nieces Amanda Stanfield, Ariel Thweatt, and to nephews Travis Stanfield, Zachery Thweatt, Sean, Trevor, and KeKoa Colden. Lexie was a true champion of life. She took life and made the most of every day with joy, laughter and pranks. She truly touched every life with which she was a part of.
Lexie was a “pioneer” in programs through the Virginia Beach Community Services Board. She was at Beach Packaging through Community Alternatives for twenty years and at the Skill Quest Program for the past eleven years. Her transportation was also provided by the Community Service Board and was always the high point of the day with her special drivers and their assistants.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to all the professionals who cared for Lexie. Dr. Melissa Fischesser who worked hard to help Lexie with her health needs. Everyone at Skill Quest, thank you for providing Lexie with happy fun days and to Arquita Simmons, Natasha Thomas, and Vera Thomas for providing aide support in such a gentle and caring manner.
A visitation for Lexie will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel from 6 PM until 8 PM. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Procession to Woodlawn Memorial Gardens to follow the services. In Lexie’s memory, the family hopes everyone attending would wear bright colors to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Skill Quest Program, City of Virginia Beach,” 400 Investor Place Virginia Beach, VA, 23452.

I have never met Lexie but have known of her exploits shared by her sister Jacqueline. I feel she truly brought joy to those around her and enriched the lives of those she contacted. Lexie loved her family and friends, may you hold tight to those blessings in this time of grief. Blessed Be to All.
