Anthony Earl Jones, 77, went home to be with the Lord December 24, 2015. He was born to the late Leo and Ollie Henry Jones in Selma, NC. He served his country in the Virginia National Guard and retired from the Naval Aviation Depot as a General Foreman. He enjoyed gardening and being a general handyman, fixing things that weren’t even broken; but his biggest enjoyment was being Pawpaw and teaching Sunday school at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member since 1966.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret; his children, Tony and Stephen Jones, and Jennifer Speelman and her husband Tim; grandchildren, Jason and Brian Jones, Stephanie Crow and her husband Dan, Daniel, Victoria, Olivia, Kimberly, and Michael Speelman; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Alex Crow.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, December 30th, 2015, at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church at 1pm with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, from 6-8pm. Please visit www.AltmeyerFH.com to offer a note of condolence to the family.

Dear Margaret, Stephen and family, I was so sadden to learn of Earls passing, though we know he is with Jesus. He has left many happy memories we will hold in our hearts. He will surely be missed. I thank God I had the privilege of sharing his friendship and his love for God, and being a part of his St. Johns Sunday School class until I moved to Edenton in 2001. May God give you peace, strength and comfort in this time of sorrow. Remembering you in prayer. Love Eva Spruill and Sister Ruby.

Anthony was a class act, admired and loved by many of us. He was also a man of principle and a good Christian friend. To Margaret and the rest of the family, you can take pride in the man he was and the impact he had on many others.
