Arthur Carey Stallings, Sr.

July 15, 1929 - June 12, 2016

Arthur C. Stallings, Sr., 86, born August 15, 1929 in Virginia Beach to J. Streets & Naomi Stallings; grew up at the oceanfront of Virginia Beach. He married his high school sweetheart Martha in 1951.  Arthur graduated from Ocean High School in 1950 and worked for the telephone company climbing telephone poles until he moved into the switchboard building from which he retired. Arthur had a passion for helping others. He volunteered with the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad for many years and is a life member. In his spare time he worked with his son Jay on boats as he loved mechanical challenges.

Arthur is survived by his wife Martha Nortonen Stallings;  their two sons, John “Jay” Stallings, III (Marion Sofield) and Arthur “Carey” Stallings, Jr.; grandchildren, John M. Stallings, Alex Stallings (Hannah) & Rejina Stallings (Jason);and daughter in law, Deborah Stallings. The family would like to thank Marion Sofield and Christine Gorman for their help and companionship to Arthur.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Maestas Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave., Saturday, June 18, 2016 beginning at 4pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Please visit www.AltmeyerFH.com to leave a note of condolence to the family.
