Benjamin Moskowitz, 91 passed away peacefully at home December 28, 2016.
He leaves behind a loving wife of 71 years, Grace Roth Moskowitz; daughter, Gayle Schroeder; son Robert Moskowitz & wife Devorah; daughter Jill Mitcham and many close friends. He had 6 grandchildren: Sean and wife Kathy Schroeder; Stacy Schroeder-Aguilar, Muria Mitcham; Tovah Rachel and Husband Chiam Perel; David and wife Adina Moskowitz; Ezra and wife Basya Moskowitz; Easter and husband Gershon Lupyan; Avraham Abba and wife Yehudis Moskowitz; Sarah Moskowitz. He adored all 14 great grandchildren.
He was a WWII naval veteran who served in the Marhshall Islands, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and the Philippines transporting troops onto the beachheads. He was wounded, when his boat was hit. He was very proud of his service to his country.
He dedicated 36 years to Congregation Beth Chaverim as the Shamash and was a member of the Mended Hearts Support group where he gave hope and encouragement to others.
The funeral will be Sunday January 1, 2017 @ 12:00p at Woodlawn Memorial King David Garden. After the service, the family will receive friends at Congregation Beth Chaverim, 3820 Stoneshore Rd, Virginia Beach, Va.
