Betty Lou Olmstead, 87, died October 2, 2017.  Mrs. Olmstead was born in St. James, MN to the late Henry O. Johnson and Nora M. Johnson-Adamson.  She was a member of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Mrs. Olmstead enjoyed playing the slots and scratch off lottery games.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Thomas H. Olmstead, Jr; children, Christine Olmstead of Moyock; Valerie A. Murphy (Michael) of Chesapeake; Thomas Scott Olmstead (Deb) of Manteo, and Steven R. Olmstead (Lisa) of Shawboro; 2 sisters in MN; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00pm until 7:30pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake.  A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00pm at Moyock Memorial Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Olmstead to the Lupus Foundation of America at www.TMCFunding.com.  Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
