My deepest condolences to the family. Always looked forward to seeing Brian in the office. All my girls loved him. He had such a positive light that he shared with us. Just a genuine and cool guy. I know he made a profound impact on the lives of his students. My thoughts and prayers for the family.

To my friend Joey (Brian’s Dad) – I am so very very sorry you are experiencing these terrible blows to your heart. I know I am thinking of you and if I could Fedex strength, it would already have arrived on your doorstep. A giant hug when I next see you my friend

Dear Brian,
We went to Kemps Landing together, way back in the day, before it was a gifted school, and when it was a geographical location. I know we laughed later, after both of us had served our nation’s military and were then giving back to our sort of alma mater. But what makes me so happy for you and proud of you is this: http://wtkr.com/2014/04/15/people-taking-action-dedicated-teacher-uses-his-money-to-feed-kids/ These kids adore you, and I am sad for them. I am also so grateful for all of the ways you have lifted these kids up over the years.
With gratitude,
Dianna McDowell

Thank you Mr. Sarmiento for everything. You were the best man and teacher I ever had. You taught me more than just social studies. You gave us your all everyday no matter what. You gave so much of yourself to us. You worked so hard so that we would be happy and understand. You always brought us food when we stayed after to study and you always made sure we were comfortable. You mixed out studies with our friends and it made us excited to come to class everyday. I enjoyed your class and I miss it like crazy. I miss seeing you stop by my class to say hi or seeing you in the hallway. You were so invested in every student you had and you stayed with them even after your class. Thank you for everything. I love and miss you❤

Joe and family, I was so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. I worked at VBMS several years ago and remember what a fine young man he was. He was always a bright spot in the day.

Joe, so sorry to learn about the passing of Brian. Joanne and I would have loved to come by to express our condolences in person but alas at our age it is just too bad to travel. Rest assured you are in our prayers and hold a special place in our memories.

Mr. Sarmiento was my 6th grade U.S. History teacher, and though he was gone until February due to surgery, he was one of my favorite teachers. He always made the class think, and he attended many afterschool activities.
