Catherine Kilroy died peacefully on February 28, 2016, at the age of 84. Services will take place
on Friday, March 4th at 12 pm at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church, in Denbigh, with
reception to follow.

Some might be more familiar with “Pat,” a nickname she inherited from her late father William
“Pat” Sincock.

Pat left rural Pennsylvania for New York City during her college summers. Later, she met a
handsome Coast Guardsman, Richard J. Kilroy Sr. After graduation from East Stroudsburg
University, the couple married in Cape May, New Jersey in 1953.

Life as a military spouse came with new expectations. From New Jersey to Florida to Hawaii to
New York to Wisconsin to Arizona, the small-town girl took her education degree across the
country finding teaching positions wherever the next assignment came. Raising two children,
Deb and Richard Jr., the couple settled down in Newport News, Virginia in 1974.
Not to stay landlocked forever, Pat retired from Richneck Elementary School and embarked on
an international adventure with her sailor.

Between trips to her favorite destination, Spain, she volunteered with Denbigh United Christian
Outreach and attended Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church regularly.
Pat was a loving grandmother to Ginny, Rebekah, Katy and Maggy. She also had a special bond
with her great-grandchild, Raegan.

When Richard Sr. passed in 2013, Pat stayed close to home moving into The Chesapeake
Continuing Care Retirement Community in Newport News, Virginia.
Pat is survived by both children: Deb Barrow and spouse Rick Barrow of Christiansburg, Virginia
and Richard Kilroy Jr. and spouse Lori Kilroy of Conway, South Carolina and her sister, Lorraine
McWilliams and spouse Milt McWilliams of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be sent to Warwick United Methodist Church on 38
Hoopes Rd, Newport News, Virginia 23602 or donated to Horton Wreath Society, Inc. at P. O.
Box 6246, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23456 which provides wreaths for every gravesite at the
Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk Virginia. Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel is assisting the family.
