September 26, 1952 - June 24, 2018

09/26/1952 - 06/24/2018

Charles Wright, Jr. known to everyone as Chick, was born Sept. 26, 1952 in Washington D.C. passed away June 24, 2018. Born to Charles R. Wright, Sr. and Phyllis L. Wright (of Brandenburg) on a beautiful fall day. In 1955 his sister, Debbie, was born, followed by his other sister in 1958, Laura, (Lori). Chick attended Hollywood Elementary School then Beltsville Jr. High. He attended High Point High School for 2 years, moving to Virginia with our Aunt and Uncle and graduated from Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA.
In 1970 he entered the US Army where he did 6 weeks boot camp in Fort Dix N.J. He was also in Germany before coming home.
Chick loved the Lord dearly and enjoyed attending services most recently where he was residing in Yorktown. Chick also loved music, which was instilled in all of us by our mother. Before moving to Virginia, he lived in Maryland where we were all raised. He worked for Greenbelt Road Shell owned by Tom Watts. He enjoyed working there with Larry and Tom, Butch and all the other employees. Chick loved moving to Virginia, he was a big history buff and loved all the history that the area is known for. He was living in Colonial Harbor in Yorktown and had many friends whom he loved so much. He was very well loved also by the residence that lived there. Chick loved his family very much and was caretaker to our mother for over 15 years.
He was also a volunteer firefighter at Branchville Square in College Park, Maryland for many years. Chick also loved animals and had 3 dogs in the past 40 years; Missy, Chessie, and Taffy tu-tu.
Chick also told me how much he loved his sissy and loved talking about the Lord to Lori, his sister. His brother in Law Richard and him would talk on guns and history which they both loved to do. Above all Chick loved being with his family whenever possible. Chick is survived by 2 sisters, five nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, 6 great-great nieces and nephews.

I miss him so much. I remember when he got to meet his 1st great great neice. He was so happy and loved her so much. I wish I could have been able to bring my son I just had so he could meet him. But I know he is looking down on all of us and is so proud of everyone. I love you Uncle Chick, RIP.

I remember meeting uncle Chick at Jenn and Sandy’s housewarming when I was pregnant with Reina and he brought Taffy Tutu with him. He adored Alex and laughed at how big my belly was with Reina and that I put on a hula skirt anyways. We sat and chatted about everything and nothing. And over the years he always checked on us and the kids and I chatted about him and his health. The conversations about him will definitely be missed
