CW3 Richard Louis Hartman, US Army Retired, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015, he was a highly decorated US Army Vietnam veteran. He was employed by the Newport News City Farm following his military career and retired as a corrections officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Louis Carl Hartman; a brother, Robert Alfred Hartman; and a granddaughter, Lacey Jane Hartman

Survivors include his wife, Linda D. Hartman; three daughters, Windy Mae Hartman, Sabrina Ann Hartman and Shannon Hartman-Mangum; two sons, Louis Carl Hartman, II (his wife, Laura) and Richard William Hartman (his wife, Tara); seven grandchildren, Kylee Hartman-Caballero, Ashley Nikolakis, Dillon Polchinski, Savannah Hartman, Randall Hanks, Colton Hartman and Logan Hartman; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Wyatt Nikolakis; a sister, Lucille Duvall Johnson (her husband, Brian).

The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, August 10, 2015 at the funeral home followed by interment in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA;
