Donald Norman Manlove

August 18, 1943 - December 13, 2015

Donald Norman Manlove, of St. Augustine, FL, and of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the age of 72 years. He was born on August 18, 1943 to John and Mabel (formerly Rohrbach) Manlove in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as a  Radar Intercept Officer,  in the F-4 and F-14 fighter community. Donald was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross during the Vietnam War and was also selected for the SFTI Program at Top Gun. He later worked for Inter-National Research Institute (which became part of Northrup-Grumman in 1998) until his retirement.

Many people would recognize him in his freetime from his multiple memberships in golf associations, the Princess Anne Country Club, Military Officers Association of America, and Association of Naval Aviation. He was also a volunteer for the PAP911 Dog Rescue and served as a Charter Member for the Kindervision Children’s Awareness Organization. He was also an extremely devoted model railroading enthusiast.

Left to cherish Donald’s memory are his wife of 42 years-Jane (formerly Melchiore); daughter Leslie Simon; son Michael Manlove and his wife Elissa; son Marc Manlove and his girlfriend Kandice Angel; and grandchildren Jordan, Faith, and Michael, Jr. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Donald will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Maestas Chapel (1801 Baltic Ave, Virginia Beach, Virginia) from 1:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Following the service, the family would like to invite you to Happy Hour celebrating Don’s life, at the Cobalt Grille at Hilltop (1624 Laskin Rd #762, Virginia Beach, VA 23451).
