Dorothy Early Gibson

April 18, 1924 - May 8, 2018

Dorothy “Mema” Early Gibson, 94, was called home on May 8th, 2018 after falling and suffering an irreparable break to her neck.  Her devotion to her family and firm belief in Jesus Christ supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

 

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Bishop and son in law Ralph, son in law Gene Marchant, grandchildren Ervin Marchant (Niecy), Jennifer Stevens (Greg), Tanya Welch and Edward Marchant (Cyndi), and 11 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edward L. Gibson, her daughter Shirley Marchant, her parents George and Mary Early and her two brothers, Charles and Andrew Early.

 

The family will receive guests at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach from 6-8pm on May 10th with a celebration of life to follow at the same location at noon on May 11th.  The service will be officiated by Pastor David Klinedinst.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, 5520 Tidewater Drive Norfolk, VA 23509.
