Elwood Rickards, Jr. was born January 24th, 1925 in Byard, Delaware.  He lived in Norfolk, Virginia for 35 years and was a resident of Wilmington, NC for 22 years until he moved to Chesapeake, VA, where he resided until his death on February 28th, 2016. He worked as a carpentry contractor for over 50 years and he served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II from 1944-1946.  Elwood was sanctified in 1956 and was a lifelong member of  Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Elwood and Hattie Rickards, his sister, Frances Rickards Collins and his son, Donald Albert Rickards.  He is survived by his wife, Frances Marie Rickards, son Scott Rickards, and his wife Geri of Portland, Oregon and special son Raymond Samuels and his wife Sandy of Lexington, South Carolina, Daughter-in-law Elsie Rickards, 7 grandchildren, Fran Collins and husband Jay, Jana Simons and husband Garland, Dana Rothfuss and husband Todd, all of Chesapeake, VA, Deanne Collier and husband Kenneth of Virginia Beach, VA, Jordan Rickards, Kyra Rickards, and Sierra Rickards, all of Portland, Oregon.  12 Great Grandchildren, Seth, Wesley, Anna, Grant, Caleb, Logan, Jake, Emily, Ryan, Mia, Sophia and Ashley.  He is also survived by his brother, Robert Jacob Rickards of Norfolk, Virginia and many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
