Virginia Beach – Georgette Winifred Fitzgerald, 97, a retired school secretary for Oradell Public Schools in Oradell, NJ. Passed away on March 11, 2017.
Georgette was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late William Henry Pollock and Helen Johnson Pollock. She was the widow of Charles Joseph Fitzgerald. She was a member of Church of the Ascension, Virginia Beach, Virginia; lifetime member of the Hillsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Ladies Auxiliary in Hillsdale, New Jersey; and a Rosary Altar Society member.
She is survived by four children, Mary E. Rizzuto of Calabash, North Carolina, Robert Fitzgerald of Fort Garland, Colorado, Ann F. Kroslowitz of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Maureen Fitzgerald-Riker of Brandon, Vermont; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sister Gayle Roorda of Punta Gorda, Florida; sister-in-law Lillian Freehill of Melbourne, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The mass will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:00 am at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, New York.
Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be Covenant House or a charity of your choice.
