Karen Elaine Mabry, 68, passed away August 16, 2017. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia. She had retired as an office manager for an oral surgeon and became a homemaker. She loved plants and was an avid animal lover, including dogs, cats and exotic birds. Karen and Jack were members of the Peninsula Caged Birds Society. Karen was the glue that held the family together and was always there for support and she believed in family dinners (with no cell phones).
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Marjorie Lamastus and her brother, Roger Lamastus.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 49 years, Jack; two sons, Jack, Jr. and James; three siblings, Diana Bailey (Curtis), Deborah Turk (Michael) and Russel Lamastus (Brenda). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Maura, Laura, Jaime, Selena, C.J. and Isaiah; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jaizhan and Jaiziann and a host of other family members.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Karen’s name to the American Cancer Society or a local SPCA. Condolences to the family may be made at www.altmeyer.com.
