Katherina Olenik

95, died on Thursday, February 4, 2016.  She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late John and Catherine Kmetyk.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael Olenik; two sisters, Ann Sichak and Nancy Plesluska, and three brothers, Stephen Kmetyk, Joe Kmetyk and John Kmetyk.  She will be greatly missed by but lovingly remembered by her son, Michael J. Olenik (Alice); daughter, Vanessa K. Olenik; two grandchildren Christopher Olenik and Nicholas Olenik (Sarah); one great-granddaughter, Niah Olenik, and many nieces and nephews.  She is also lovingly remembered by Catherine Koch, a dear friend who was like a daughter to her.
A proud Air Force wife, Kay followed her husband to bases all over the world, being very active in the Wives’ Club.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Braves fan.  One of her best memories was traveling to Atlanta with her family and attending a Braves baseball game with her son and grandsons.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Hampton Veterans’ Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hampton Virginia.
