Kathleen Carson Wallick passed away at home in Norfolk, VA on September 26, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Kathleen was born in Barnardsville, North Carolina on January 23, 1929 to Arnold Luther Carson and Reva Lee Hensley Carson.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Susan D. Bohan and her husband Patrick J. Bohan of Norfolk, Virginia; her son John S. Wallick and his wife Theresa Wallick of Pensacola, Florida; her brother Gaines “Buster” Carson and his wife Jeanette Carson of Fruitland, Idaho; her aunts Sarah Good of Nebo, North Carolina and Irene Laws of Lenoir, North Carolina; and her four grandchildren, Matthew W. Bohan of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Allison M. Bohan of Richmond, Virginia; Rachael Wallick Newburn of Pensacola, Florida; and Sarah Wallick of Pensacola, Florida. Kathleen’s husband John William “Bill” Wallick, Jr and their infant daughter Cynthia Lynn Wallick, Kathleen’s brothers Vernon Carson and Calvin “Jack” Carson, and her sister Joan Carson Miller preceded her in death.
Kathleen was a telephone operator for the Governor of Maryland before starting her family and later her own business. To be at home with her own children, Kathleen established her at-home childcare business. She cared for many children, from infant to pre-school age, over a span of nearly 20 years. She taught the children everything from the basics to the fun stuff, with a goal of preparing them for their start in Kindergarten all the while shaping and building their character and strengths that would be with each of them for a lifetime. The children she cared for and their families were a joy in her life and an extension of her own family. She loved them all and found something special about each one. “Miss Kathy”, as they affectionately called her, was a name she adored and treasured. She had a heart of gold and a loving smile. Miss Kathy will truly be missed and will always remain in the hearts of her friends and family.
Kathleen was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church and NAS Corry Station Chapel, Pensacola, Florida, and later Saint Michael’s Lutheran Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Kathleen Carson Wallick will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida with her husband Bill and daughter Cynthia.
