She was blessed by her lifetime friendships with Joyce Davis, Dottie Williams, Pat Griffin, Mary Tremblay, and countless others.
Melva “Teenie” Grimstead grew up on old Dam Neck Road attending Courthouse Elementary and was a member of the first graduating class of Princess Anne High School (1954-1958). In her teenage years, she worked at her family’s business, Grimstead Market, and later became a successful computer specialist with the civil service for 33 years.
Melva was a very generous person to all her family and friends. Her bragging rights included that all of her nieces and nephews graduated from college. She was also an amazing athlete accumulating numerous awards and trophies for bowling and softball, winning the women’s state bowling tournament in the 1960’s and as an inductee into the Tidewater Virginia Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame.

Melva was a genuine, loyal and a special person! I feel blessed to have known and count Melva as my friend! I know her and my sister are probably organizing a Heavenly Softball team!!

Pitch some good ones in heaven, Melva. You sure did pitch some good ones here on earth. Melva played softball with my sister, Ellen Garrett on the team called the Travelers. I watched them take the team all the way to the state finals. I spent some of the best days of my life at their softball games. Ellen considered Melva a very dear friend. I pray the family will find love and peace in all of the good memories she left with us.
