Oscar Allen Apple, Sr. 59, born August 5, 1956 in Newport News, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Oscar was a Baptist and was baptized in the Clear Creek in Norton, Va. with his sister in 1972; and was a graduate of Bethel High School where he played drums, football and other sports. His brother was his sidekick through his early years, enjoying playing Cowboys and Indians and little league baseball. He loved to have music jam sessions in the backyard with family and friends, until the police showed up. He had many talents and could do anything he set his mind to.
He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force where he was a Security Specialist stationed in Grand Forks, N.D. and was a Call Center Operations Manager at various companies over the years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lee Apple, Jr; and his son, Oscar Allen Apple, Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Sindia Ann Bevins-Apple of Wise, Va; his daughter, Dianna Marie Apple of Dinwiddie, Va; his brother, Roger Lee Apple (Ellen) of Honaker, Va; his sister, Patricia Apple Douglass (Robert) of Christiansburg, Va.; his nephews, Daniel and Michael Mattingly; a niece, Julie Lee (Kelvin), and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held 2 pm Friday, August 5, 2016, in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans  @ www.nchv.org
Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
