Robert Edward Perkins, of Norfolk, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2017 at the age of 68 years. He was born on June 28, 1949 in New York City to James Perkins and Joan Carlsen Perkins. They both precede him in death.
Robert was an avid motorcyclist and a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served his country in Vietnam. Robert also received the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the American Legion Riders, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 48, Gold Wing Riders Club, Honda Riders of Tidewater, Marine Corps League, and VFW 3160 Riders. He also volunteered for Operation Smile for many years.
Left to cherish his memory are his dear friends Phillip Mobley, Patrick Carney, and Shane Kelly.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Altmeyer Funeral Home (5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, VA) at 4:00 PM. He will be interred at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery.
