Robert William Koelling, Sr., of Virginia Beach, entered Eternal Life on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the age of 95 years. He was born on May 3, 1922 to George Koelling and Lorene Mische Koelling in St. Charles, MO. He worked for the Wabash Railroad prior to serving in the U.S. Army during WWII at Fort Monroe and other local facilities. He later worked for many years as an area supply officer for the Army Reserves. In his free time he was a member of the Methodist Men at Lekies Methodist Church and Heritage United Methodist Church and was a former president of the Dixie Squares square dance group.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 70 years, Anne, and sister Norma Lee Bush.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Robert W. Koelling, Jr. and his wife Deborah; son Gary Koelling and his wife Alexis; granddaughter Glenn; and grandson Everett.
Visitation for Robert will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home (5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, VA) from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Rosewood Memorial Park (631 N. Witchduck Rd. Virginia Beach, VA ) at 11:00 AM.
