To me, she was Grandma Rose. She has been grandma since me, my sister and brother were born. She has been there for us and loved and cared for us like we were her own flesh and blood. The first memory that I have of my grandmother is when she literally saved my life. I couldn’t have been older than 3 when I had an asthma attack at her house. I don’t remember much, but I do remember feeling scared and alone until I saw my grandma holding me close to her. My sister and I went to stay with her for a few weeks after Grandpa Jordan passed, and during that time we all helped each other heal. We laughed, cried, and shared memories of Grandpa. I will never forget her smile, her amazing sense of humor and how she would dress to impress everytime we went grocery shopping. I love you Grandma and I wish I had just one more day with you, but I know that you’re in a better place and you can finally rest with Grandpa. I’ll see you later.
Love Always,
Lillian

My Dear, Sweet, Loving Mother. I have had the joy of knowing Rose all of my life, she and my Mom were best friends. It was established very early in my life that Rose was not just a family friend, I asked to call her Mother (she cheerfully agreed). Rose was there for me and my family at times when I didn’t think I would make it. She always had the best advice, the best Bible verse and lets not forget the best dinner rolls & tea cakes you would ever taste. I am so greatful to God that I was able to let her know just how much I loved her. She was there for my children, as their GrandMother all of their lives, who could ask for a better Parent? Once we realized you had passed, my youngest daughter stated that she wished we had more time with you. I told her that: “We as humans can be a bit selfish, if we were indeed granted the wish of time, we would still find a way to waste it.” I also told her that her Grandmother led a Beautiful and full life, she has truly earned her Crown. So Mother, I will say to you, JOB WELL DONE! Until we meet again, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, your daughter, Debbie

auntie was funny she was humorous just this past Christmas 2015 I picked up auntie from her southside Chicago home and brought her to my westside home, it was already planned that she would spend a few Christmas holidays with me and Chris, so we arrived with auntie and she happiliy settled in that evening. I made up a nice comfy bed for her, she said she was a little tired and wanted to turn in early for the evening it wasn’t long before she was fast asleep i remember checking in on her and watched her rest soundly and peacefully. The next morning Christmas day she woke up energetic and talkative. I made her breakfast she ate really good and as the day went on i finalized the Christmas dinner menu she insisted on wanting to help and i insisted that not this time you will be served and have to do nothing. Soon guests arrived dinner was served auntie enjoyed herself ate well and then the unexpectedly auntie said “i’m going home” and i said “but auntie you said you were staying a few days” “well auntie remarked with her infamous line “IN THE BACK OF MY MIND i said i’m going on home somebody here gonna take me home” auntie disappointed me but made me laugh at the same time. To my auntie that i love so dearly and will miss you everyday i will miss your funny sayings, endless curiosity and questions. I heard you saying before you departed this life “i’m going home” and surely that’s what you did accompanied by angels sent from God enjoy your new home auntie i can’t wait until we all meet up together again for the greatest family meal ever the marriage supper of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…rest sweetly I LOVE YOU…don

Aunt Rose was a lively southern lady who loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She was a great cook and taught me a few things in the kitchen. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
