Sharon Lee Boyd Dunkelberger, 65, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
Sharon was born in Nansemond County, Virginia to the late Dennis J. Boyd, Jr. and Norma Lee Boyd. They moved from Suffolk to Chesapeake in 1963. After graduating from Great Bridge High School in 1968, Sharon was swept away to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1971 by the love of her life, Ron. Sharon raised two sons, Chris and Dennis. She inherited her love of flowers and green thumb from her mom and was always looking forward to springtime so she could infuse her yard with color in her flowerbeds and hanging baskets. Sharon also loved to watch and feed birds. She had birdhouses in her backyard where she could sit and watch the birds feed all through the year.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Ronald G. Dunkelberger; sons, Christopher G. and Dennis P.; grandchildren, Karley and Bentley; siblings, Charlie D. Boyd, Anne B. Matthews, Cathy B. Smith (Ramon), and Susan B. Caroon (James).
A Celebration of Life with Pastor Kenny Bass will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake.
