I met Steve in Florida and he couldn’t have been more kind, more accepting, and more willing to go out of his way to keep us all happy. I had a particularly bad day and he called me out to the courtyard and played me my favorite music and fed me hummus and baby sweet peppers which i still love to eat to this day. I’ll cherish those memories. Rest easy bud.

Steven’s family and Emily,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Steven at Student Council Leadership Camp in high school. We became quick friends and continued to stay in touch over the last twenty years. We wrote letters and talked for countless hours on the phone. When we talked, we would eat nabs (those orange crackers) and have iced tea and talk about how we loved the combination of those two items. We talked about all the intricacies of our lives, the good stuff, the hard stuff, just everything. He was a constant friend and was always there to make me laugh and appreciate life. He is gone far too soon as we all know. He will always live in my heart as that beautiful and hilarious soul. I am truly blessed to have known him. Emily, he talked about you all the time. He loved you so very much. And Pepsi. I wish peace and comfort to all of us who are grieving. Steven, you will be missed deeply by so many. May you finally be at peace, dear sweet friend. I love you always.

Steven shared his many gifts with all of us who had the privilege to know him.  He provided that richness in life we all seek to make our days happy and fulfilling.  He had that contagious smile, that fun loving joke of a nudge, that spark of wit, that quirky humor and that way of spending time with you that made you feel like you were the most important person.  He was lively and had that zeal to catch you at a state of amazement in what normally would have been an average mundane moment.  His life meant so much to so many friends and family who were close to him and deeply cared about him. In many ways Steven made us feel proud. And that feeling that he gave to each of us will always remain in our hearts.

It’s still so hard to believe you’re gone. My oldest and dearest friend in the world. You had a smile to light up a room and a sense of humor that could turn anyone’s day around. You have no idea how many lives you touched and just how greatly you will be missed. Heaven gained a beautiful soul and we all gained an amazing guardian angel. I love you!
