Yvonne Stephan Brown, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday March 16, 2017. She was born in California to the late Captain Charles R. and Eleanor S. Stephan and also preceded by her brother, Captain Charles R. Stephan. She earned degrees from both Virginia Beach High School and the University of Virginia. High school sweetheart and wife of Ulysses T. Brown, she partnered in many business endeavors including the Cardinal Plaza Shell Station in Springfield, Virginia. A Pearl Harbor survivor and baton twirler in the Rose Bowl parade, she lived a life full of adventure. She enjoyed knitting and animals and had a sense of humor that could light up a room. Yvonne gave her love and care freely to all she knew and many refer to her as their best friend.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 60 years, Ulysses T. “U.T.” Brown; 5 children (and spouses), Jack (Kathy) Brown, Doug (Dee) Brown, Tom (Cindy) Brown, Scott (MaryBeth) Brown, and Kim (Sean) LaCroix; 13 grandchildren, Laura, Lindsey, Chris, Caitlin, Anna, Tim, Craig, Josh, Ava, Liza, Jack, Jackie, and Joey. She is also survived by her siblings, Bobby and Joan, her dog Bumble, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A mass of resurrection will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1pm at the Westminster Canterbury Chapel with a celebration of life reception to follow in the Anderson Bayview Room. In lieu of flowers the family encourages a donation to the Westminster Canterbury Foundation which provides financial aid to residents in need.
