It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Prado, 70, on Saturday,
November 23, 2019, in Moyock, NC. Jimmy was born in Portsmouth, Va to Jimmie and
Jessie Prado. He was pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Richard Prado.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Bennett Prado; 2 sons, Jason Prado (wife
Amie) and Josh Prado (wife Michelle) all of Moyock, NC; 5 grandchildren, Sierra
Krainski (Kenny), Tristan, Seth, Taylor and Alyx Prado and 2 great-grandchildren,
Bradley and Clementine; 2 sisters, Debra Parker and Patricia Thorne both of
Portsmouth VA; a brother, Roger Prado (wife Karen) of Suffolk; a sister-in-law, June
Prado of KDH, NC and numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Jimmy attended Cradock High School. He was employed in environmental services at
NSGA/NW and NNSY. After leaving Civil Service, he was co-owner of The Software
Choice in Chesapeake from 1996 to 1999. He loved Sci-Fi, computer gaming, beach
vacations, Christmas, hats, those really big 72oz 7-11 thermoses, but what he loved the
most was his family. He loved everybody being together.
Jimmy didn’t want the formal funeral service or the pomp and circumstance. He wanted
a casual get-together of family and friends reminiscing about all our good times we’d
had with him. In keeping with his wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday,
November 26 beginning at 2:00 at his home at 146 Green View Rd, Moyock, NC.

What fun we had together many times with all the Jimmys. Two Prados and one Burket. When someone called for Jimmy, all three of us would respond.
