Alan Barry Stevens, age 70, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on June 5th, 2021. He was the 2nd child of George and Mary Stevens, born on July 5th 1950 in Brooklyn, New York.

Alan grew up in Jamaica, New York, where he made many lifelong friendships. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Alan was a gentle kind soul who loved everyone that came into his life. He spent many years as a vendor in New York City. Alan then reconnected with his family and spent several years in Massachusetts. Once relocating to Newport News, Virginia, he enjoyed fishing and learned how to play the guitar. He also was a lover of animals and loved his two cats. He was devoted to his wife, Sally.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Sally Rivera Stevens; his sister, Laura Garrett Williams; his two nieces, Leslie Fisher and Bridgette Johnson; two great nieces; three great nephews; and one great-great nephew; his brother-in-law, Joe Rivera; and a host of cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Stevens; grandparents, Carl and Cornelia Bell; brother­ in-law William F. Williams; sister-in-law Vickie Romero; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life  service will be held on Tuesday, June 15th at 2:00 PM at the World Outreach Worship Center, 1233 Shields Rd, Newport News, Virginia, 23608.

Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, is assisting with arrangements.
