Memorial Service

Albert “Al” Thomas Watson Jr. transitioned to his eternal home on August 14th, 2021 surrounded by love.
Our Al was born May 22nd, 1949 in Key West, Florida to Albert Thomas Watson and Agnes Bryant Watson. At the age of two, his family moved to Norfolk, Virginia.
Al attended school at Norview and graduated from Bayside High in 1967. He then attended Elon College, where he met his life-long love, Paulette Tyler Spindle. They were married December 23rd, 1970 in Hustle,Virginia. Al graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He was employed by Lowe’s as Credit Manager and retired after 23 years of service.
Al then enjoyed driving a school bus with Virginia Beach City Public Schools for 15 years. He was a faithful member of Rock Church International for 40 years, where he served the Lord with great joy. Al truly loved spending time with family. He enjoyed taking trips with them, playing games, guitar, and was known to joyfully burst into song, anywhere from gospel to classic rock. His children most remember his humor and the love he so generously gave.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Paulette, married 50-and-a-half years, daughters Alison and Ashley; sons Ronnie and Ethan; his adored grandchildren Gwenneth, Tyler, Ethan Jr.; bonus grands Justice, Caleb and great-grand Blaze; sisters Adelia and Anna; nieces Dawn and Mary; nephews Charles and Gregory along with numerous loved ones and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Rock Church International, 640 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to Rock Church International.

My sincerest condolences and prayers are extended to Paulette and family. May the Lord grant you an abundance of comfort, peace and strength during this difficult time. Al was a kind kind man of God who had a contagious smile. I am thankful for the years we sang together in the Rock Church choir. Now, he gets to sing in the Heavenly choir. Rest in Heavenly peace, Brother Al.
