Portsmouth – Alma L. Peterson, 61, died July 4, 2016.  Alma was born in Youngstown, OH to Andrew Williams and the late Betty Ruth Whisenant.  She was a veteran, having served in the US Navy.  Alma enjoyed cooking for her family, knitting, and working with ceramics.  She was a great lover of music, especially R&B and Rap.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Latasha Davis and her husband, Douglas of Chesapeake and Tiffany Peterson of Portsmouth; father, Andrew Williams of Blacklick, OH; stepmother, Shirley Williams of Blacklick, OH; siblings, Karen Wyche of Durham, NC, Wayne Williams of Miami, FL, Dwight Williams of Columbus, OH, and Sylvia Miller of Portsmouth; and grandchildren, Atrel Spiers and Capria Davis, both of Chesapeake.

The family will be celebrating Alma’s life on Monday at 2:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake with Pastors Tajuana and Reginald Hamberry officiating.  Interment will take place at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at
