Andreas Velasco Woods, 30, went to his final resting place on January 30, 2020. He was born on November 25, 1989 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Donald and Carina Woods.
Andreas graduated from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University. After college, he moved to Vallejo, California where he accepted a position as a lab analyst at EAG, Inc. He later worked as a tech support at Bio-Rad Laboratories, then as a field engineer at Agilent Technologies.
Andreas was known as “Arjod” to his family and “Dre” to his friends. He considered his friends his second family and enjoyed traveling with them. He worked hard and played even harder. He loved snowboarding, gardening, camping, hiking, gourmet cooking, painting, skydiving, live music, astronomy, weight lifting, and Gucci window shopping.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Donald and Carina; siblings, Terence (Jennezel), Katrina (Gerry); nieces and nephews, Robert, Joseph, Katerrina, Bianca, Gabriel, Arabella; cousins, Michael, Michelle, Mclene in Virginia, a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins in the U.S., the Philippines, Germany and Australia; and many special friends that will miss him dearly.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9th from 5-9 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10th at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St, Norfolk. A reception will be held after the burial at Andreas’ parents home in Norfolk. All of Dre’s friends are encouraged to join.
