Arvid Nelson Bierman

February 7, 1944 - February 10, 2021

Arvid Nelson Bierman, 77 passed away Wednesday February 10th, 2021 in Virginia Beach, VA. Arvid was born February 7th, 1944 to parents Nels George Bierman and Annabelle Dunker in South Dakota. He was a proud retired Military veteran that served in Both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force with a combination in 21 years of service.
Arvid grew up in Mansfield South Dakota raised on a farm with his brothers and sisters. After graduating from Northville-northwestern Highschool in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his service in the Navy, Arvid met his late wife Carol Ann Bierman in New Hampshire. The two were married in 1966 where they spent a wonderful 49 years together until Carol’s passing in 2015. Love came knocking on Arvid’s door once again when he met Edie at Franks Truck Stop for a night of line dancing, although the two did not click right away love had other plans. As his wife Edie would put it on a warm fall night the two met at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market for a night of dancing with friends. The whole night Arvid would not let a single gentleman cut in to dance with Edie, you could say that he was as smitten as a school boy in the way he pursued her. The two were married on November 5th, 2017 where they spent 4 wonderful years married. Arvid enjoyed to play cards with his wife and friends, attend church, and was a proud member of the County Music Association. You could always catch Arvid in his recliner on a Football Sunday afternoon with his wife to his left cheering on his New England Patriots and doing the same for Edie’s team the Baltimore Ravens. Even though the two would share in playful banter about each other’s teams, they both shared a love for NASCAR and Baseball….Go Sox!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Carol Ann Bierman; Brother Timothy Bierman; and Son in-law Scott Perkins Sr.
Arvid’s life will forever be cherished by his wife, Edie Carter Bierman; three children Tina Marie McArthur and husband Mike, James Arvid Bierman and wife Julie, Patrick Andrew Bierman and wife Kim; Three step children, William Pennington and Libby , Donald Pennington and wife Lynn, and April Achesinski and husband Jeff; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; three sisters Sandra Patton, Loretta Brick, and Sally Bitts; two brothers, Thomas Bierman, and Allen Bierman; and several nieces and nephews.
