Bernice Rae Poleski, was born on February 21, 1925, in the State of Maryland to Harry “Happy” and Nellie Martz. She passed away on April 22, 2021, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Peter Joseph Poleski, and her sister, Phyllis Barncord. She is survived by, her two sons, John Dewayne Poleski Jr., and Stephen Ronald Poleski. Also left to share her memories are her seven grandchildren, Brent, Justin, Michael, Katie, Gregory, Leia, and Shauna; six great- grandchildren, Lily, Keilyn, Tara, Samantha, Jackson, and Chase; and her two sisters, Kathleen Hott and Alice Faye Leydig.

There will be two visitations held Tuesday, April 27, 2021  with the first starting at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and the second, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7:15 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel. Bernice will be reunited with her husband, and together they will be laid to rest at a comital of ashes ceremony to be held at a later date at Milligan’s Cove Church Cemetery in Buffalo Mills, Pennsylvania with her parents.
