Beverly Jeanne Nettleton (nee Barnett), my wife of 37 years, passed away November 4, 2018 at 12:15am in Great Bridge, VA.  Beverly was born December 1, 1954 in Oceanside, NY and lived in Freeport N.Y. from birth until 1996 with a short stint in Fort Lauderdale, Fl in 1978-79. Beverly was the proud daughter of Harold and Jeanne Barnett of Freeport, N.Y.  Beverly met Edwin Nettleton while working at Bendix Avionics in Fort Lauderdale, Fl in 1978 and a year later we both moved to Freeport, N.Y. to be married and start our great 37 year journey of marriage and parenthood.  Beverly and I had a fantastic daughter, Karen Jeanne and the family moved to Great Bridge, VA in 1996 where we have resided since.  Karen married her terrific husband, Brian Mileski in March 2014 and presented Beverly and I with three terrific grandchildren, which were the love of Beverly’s life.  Beverly was a big Yankee fan and in her last ten years was an active participant in monitoring and documenting the nesting and movement of Bald Eagles, report sighting and band numbers.  Beverly and I also enjoyed going to Kitty Hawk and relaxing on the beach.  Beverly is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edwin; daughter, Karen Jeanne and her husband Brian Mileski; grandchildren Elijah, Josiah and Joanna; Sister Lisa and her husband Kevin Layton; Brother Mickey Barnett and his wife JoAnne; Brother Tim Barnett and his wife Donna. Also to be remembered are her late brothers Stephen and Gary Barnett.  Beverly is also survived by nieces and nephews Ryan, Tyler and Alexa Barnett living in Florida, Kristy and Stephanie of Raleigh, NC; Jennifer Barnett living in NY; Kelly Waite living in Florida and Meghan Barnett of Long Island, NY.
Viewing will be Thursday November 8, 2018 from 6pm to 7:30pm and a 2:00pm service on Friday November 9, 2018, directly followed by a reception at Altmeyer Funeral Home 929 S Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Phone number (757) 482-3311.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly would prefer a memorial donation be made to www.2ndchancewildlife.org or www.ccbbirds.org.  Condolences may be offered to the family at: www.altmeyerfh.com.

Please accept my most sincere condolences. I have so many great memories growing up with Beverly and hanging out in Freeport High School. I will always remember her as a lovely, kind person. She is with her brothers, who I also knew. We all had lots of fun together. She will be sorely missed.

Uncle Ed and Karen.
Aunt Bev was a one of a kind person. I remeber her coming to my house and talking for hours. She always had a smile on her face no matter what was going on. She is a true fighter. If there is anything we can do please let us know.
