Billy P. Joyner, 76, passed away on May 3, 2019 in Carrollton, Virginia. Billy was born in Lumberton North Carolina to John Joyner, his adopted father and Mable Joyner.
When Billy was not working, he spent his days surrounded by adoring family and his cherished pets or attending the Bremond Lodge #241 as a member and 32nd degree Master Mason and Scottish Rite Temple. Billy was an exceptionally talented ballroom dancer and he was the co-owner of Douglas High School of Dancing in Hampton. When he was not dancing with his beautiful wife Suzanne Joyner, he was dancing with his adored puppy Abigail. All animals were welcome in Billy’s life – he was especially fond of feeding the neighborhood raccoons. He had a heart as big as the moon. His song, laugh and smile easily lit a room and the hearts of everyone around him.
Billy follows his father John Joyner, his mother Mable Joyner, his son Douglas P. Joyner and his grandson Richard S. Hoag into the golden sunset of eternal rest.
Left behind to cherish his amazing memory are his wife Suzanne Joyner, his sons William Joyner (Melissa) and Robert Joyner (Margaret), his daughter Kelly Cofield (Jason), his sibling Brenda West, his grandchildren Amanda Hoag, Jackson Joyner, Crystal Lewis, Jaela Joyner, Olivia Joyner and his 3 great-granddaughters and his puppy Abigail. A special thank-you to Medi Home Health and Hospice and the phenomenal dedication of their healthcare team Andrea, Barbara, Suki, Deedra and Jerra.

We didn’t get to be with Billy very much, but we enjoyed every time that we could be together. He was always open and outgoing with everyone and a real pleasure to be around. To his family we say rest assured that he is in a better place and is at peace.

I thoroughly enjoyed going to my uncle home with my grandma for visits and he would have rainbow sherbet for me when he knew he was coming. He always made me and my brothers feel welcome when we were there . He had a heart of gold . He was a true family man .
