Carl Dwayne Holcomb Jr., 72, passed away on December 14, 2018 at Kings Grant Assisted Living in Virginia Beach. Being born and raised in Oklahoma, Carl was just a good ole country boy at heart. In 1964 he joined the United States Navy to serve in the Vietnam War after which he proudly continued to serve his country honorably for over 21 years.
He was a very special person who genuinely loved and cared about everyone. He could strike up a conversation with anyone who just wanted to talk. One of his favorite pastimes was playing BINGO! When no one was available to call BINGO, he took on the duty of calling the games so everyone could play. He was an animal lover at heart and was surrounded by numerous pets his entire life. He absolutely adored his dogs and cats and was completely devoted to them.
He is predeceased by his loving parents, Carl and Edna Holcomb; his wife, Nancy Mae, of 44 years and his second wife, Kathleen Lewis, of 2 years. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Narda Chierici, Lynne Austin and Greg Holcomb; two sisters, Darla Upchurch and Carlene Smith; three grandchildren, Fallon Tice, Robert Humes and Tony Chierici; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will take place on Saturday, December 22nd at 11:00 am at Creeds Church of Christ, 5500 Morris Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23457. Reception immediately following at 1069 Minden Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the SPCA or the American Cancer Society.

Dear Narda & Lynne,

Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your dad. Your mom and dad were life-long friends. We look back fondly on the times we spent together playing tourist in the Philippines, playing all sorts of card games, mahjong, and the list goes on…. Carl and Nancy are sorely missed.

I’m greatly saddened to learn of Carl’s passing but it brings joy to my heart to know that he’s with Nancy once again. My sincere condolences to Narda and Lynne, both of whom I love dearly. Carl was the best daddy there ever was and I pray it comforts you to know that others of us are grieving with you.
