Carol D. Morgan “Nana”, 82, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. A native of Melrose, Mass, she had been a Peninsula resident for 13 years. She retired as Office Administrator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hanover, NH after over 10 years of service and was currently the church secretary for Hope Lutheran Church, Hampton. She had previously been a Hampton foster grandparent and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #40, formerly of Hampton-currently of Poquoson, VA; Grand Officer for the state of Vermont and member, Past Matron of Forest Unity #82, Sharon, VT. Carol liked to help her neighbors and always looked forward to her monthly hair and nail appointment.
She was preceded by her husband, James C. Morgan; father, Joseph H. Durb; mother, E. Margaret Cronin Goldsworthy and step-father, Reginald Goldsworthy.
Carol will be greatly missed by her children: Sharon Morgan-Jones (Doug) of Norfolk, James H. Morgan (Christina) of Woodstock, VT, Martin J. Morgan (Joann) of Meriden, NH and Charles F. Morgan (Janet) of Lebanon, NH; grandchildren, Thomas E. Gilland (Kat), James C. Morgan (Robyn), Joshua Morgan (Angela), Melissa Ramirez (Dominique), Jarrett Morgan (Maria), Nathaniel Morgan and Alexis Morgan; great-grandchildren, Cathryn Morgan, Willow Gilland, Jarrett “J.D.” and Wyatt Brito and Kingston Morgan. Also left to cherish her memories is her brother, Martin Goldsworthy; niece, Amy Rice; nephew, Brian Goldsworthy and her great-nieces, great-nephews all of Peabody, MA; her cousin and close friend, Connie Leavitt and husband, Fred of Florida and a host of other family members and friends. She will also be missed by “The Girls” and Frank, her grand-dogs.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 7415 River Road, Newport News. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery, Greeneville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
