Carol Lee Murphy

March 10, 1943 - November 25, 2018

Carol Lee (Woodlock) Murphy passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.   Carol was born on March 10, 1943 in Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of the late Vera and Francis Conner.  She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Murphy and her brother, William Baird of California.

She is survived and mourned by her children, Robert John Woodlock, Krista Lee Woodlock and Constance Lynn Flaherty (along with her husband Charles Flaherty); her grandchildren, Conor Flaherty, Devin Flaherty, Grace Flaherty and Brittany Woodlock; and many extended family members and friends.

Carol was a beautiful person inside and out.   She was known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren and all her grandchildren’s friends.  She spent most of her retired years devoted to her grandchildren and helped care for them from the time they were born.

She grew up in Akron, Ohio, but lived in Virginia Beach since 1983.   She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 40 years, where she formed many long and special friendships.  She loved art and doing art projects with her grandchildren.  Even through her illness she colored the most intricate pictures.  She loved to read, loved old movies and all kinds of puzzles.

Nanny did so many wonderful things for so many people.   She will be deeply missed.    A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA.
