Carol Roberta Mingo Dugas was born in Norwich CT, to John Vincent and Michelina Tulka Mingo. She was lovingly fostered shortly after birth by Jeremiah Leo and Marion Sullivan. She married Allred H. Dugas, son of Alfred L. and Rosalinda Dugas, of Taftville, CT in St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Norwich, CT. on October 30, 1954.
She graduated from Norwich Free Academy Arts School then attended Jamesine Franklin School of Professional Arts in New York City and the Silvermine Guild of Artist School in Norwalk Ct. She received an associate degree in Liberal Arts from Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, VA and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Averett College in Danville, VA.
She served as President of the Piedmont Arts Association in Martinsville VA, a museum partner of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond VA. One of her oil paintings was on exhibition in the Virginia Museum of Art in Richmond, VA.
She was an active member of the Kinston NC Little Theatre, where she gave outstanding performances in many leading roles over a period of six years.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, John and Michelina Mingo, her Foster parents, Jeremiah and Marion Sullivan, her brother James Mingo, and her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Dugas.
Carol is survived by Alfred H Dugas, her six children, Christopher Gregory Dugas, Marc Jeffrey Dugas, Alison Dugas Cougill (John), Paul Andrew Dugas (Margaret “Peggy”), Colin Matthew Dugas (Jayme Cantrell), and Jonathan Allen Eric Dugas (Luisa), her 8 grandchildren; Zachary Tyler Dugas, Victoria Dugas Robben, Emily Margaret Dugas, Chandler Cougill Letzer, Cameron Edward Cougill, Caroline Virginia Dugas, and Marc Jeffrey Dugas, Jr. Gabriella Nicole Dugas; Carol’s brother and sister in law, Robert L. Dugas and Rita M. Dugas.
Visitation will be from 12- 3 pm, July 9th, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach VA 23451.
