January 5, 1940 - February 19, 2021

Carrie Johnson, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Carrie was born in Craven, North Carolina and is a graduate of Craven high school. After her graduation she moved to Portsmouth with her aunt Mamie Lee to further her education at Tidewater Community College, earning her Associates degree. After graduation, her first job was at Maryview Hospital working as a Data Entry Technician. She was then hired by EVMS Medical Group where she worked for forty-five years. She was preceded in death by her parents Clayton T. Johnson and Connie (formerly Smith) Johnson. Carrie was a kind and loving person, she enjoyed traveling, Florida was one of her favorite destinations. She leaves behind many dear friends.

Visitation for Carrie will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel (5033 Rouse Dr. Virginia Beach, VA) from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Entombment for Carrie will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens (3920 Airline Blvd. Chesapeake, VA) at 12 noon (please meet us at the cemetery). The Altmeyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
