Catherine Agustiady-Becker, an emergency medicine physician, died unexpectedly on May 3, 2021 at the age of 37. Born February 22, 1984 in Jakarta, Indonesia, she was the only daughter of Romulus and Aida Agustiady. Dr. Agustiady-Becker graduated from University at Buffalo, Boston University and University of New England School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Following a residency in emergency medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Dr. Agustiady-Becker joined the staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital as an attending physician in 2018, where she became the assistant medical director in 2020. Even after long grueling shifts, dealing with complex and serious illnesses of her patients, she would come home with a smile on her face. Dr. A-B, as she was fondly referred to by her coworkers, was passionate about emergency medicine and highly respected by her colleagues. Dr. Agustiady-Becker was a dedicated and caring physician and an even greater mother to her children.
Catherine was an active member of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians as a leadership and advocacy fellow, as well as the American College of Emergency Physicians. She brought joy and warmth to all she met in life.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Jacob; her children, Wyatt, Theodore and Quentin; mother, Aida Agustiady; brothers, Donny (Daesey), Dicky (Adeline) and Andry (Tina); mother-in-law, Susan Krebs; sisters-in-law, Jennifer (David Cardenas), Cindy Schmidt, Mary Dickman (Jeffrey), Kathleen Sharp (Eric) and Margaret Grim (Carl); and brother-in-law, Andrew Becker (Cortney). She was predeceased by her father, Romulus Agustiady, in 1999.
Funeral Services will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. A viewing is scheduled from 3-7 PM on Sunday, May 9th and a memorial service at 5pm on Monday, May 10th with a visitation hour preceding at 4pm.
