Charles Thomas "Tommy" Simmons

Charles Thomas “Tommy” Simmons 83, passed away September 1, 2017 in Norfolk, VA. He was born in Norfolk on July 6, 1934 to Evelyn C. and George H. Simmons. He was a 1952 graduate of Maury High School. Tommy attended Norfolk College studying to be a CPA. He was employed for 24 years with John Hancock Life Insurance Company as an agent. He was married for 61 wonderful years to the love of his life, Elizabeth Anne “Betty Anne” Pollock Simmons.

He was predeceased by his brother, George H. Simmons, Jr.; his son, C. Thomas Simmons, Jr.; his daughter Elizabeth Anne “Beth” Marsh, who both passed away in the fall of 2016.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Timothy Raymond Simmons. Tommy was a lifetime member of Norfolk County Grays, Camp 1549, Sons of Confederate Veterans.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach. A funeral mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great – Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2017. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Norfolk following a luncheon at the church. Condolences may be made to the family at
