Funeral Mass

Colette Mulligan Wojnar, 87, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015.  Mrs. Wojnar was a native of Westfield, New Jersey.
Colette was a devoted wife and phenomenal mother. She adored her family and would do anything to secure their happiness.  Mrs. Wojnar enjoyed the pleasures of cooking, traveling, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, shopping, visiting the beach and reading.  Colette had the esteemed pleasure to be the sponsor of the USCGC Sturgeon Bay, christening her in San Diego and taking part in her commissioning on Governor’s Island in New York in 1988.  The rest of her life she continued to support the Sturgeon Bay and her crew and felt blessed to sponsor such a state of the art icebreaker.
Left to cherish Colette’s memory are her loving and adoring husband of 58 years, RADM Theodore J. Wojnar, US Coast Guard (Retired); four children, Mary Gayle W. (David) Uncur, Theodore “T.J.” Jr. (Sue) Wojnar, Pamela Joy Wojnar and Stephen A. Wojnar; five grandchildren, Lauren, Jeffrey, Lisa, Bryan and Sean; one greatgrandchild, Emily and a legion of additional family and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd.  Virginia Beach, VA at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Colette’s name be made to either the USCGC Sturgeon Bay Morale Fund or to Sentara Hospice House.  Please consider visiting www.TMCFunding.org to donate and to learn more about Colette’s connection to these organizations and www.altmeyerfh.com to leave condolences for the family.  Colette’s beauty and grace will never be forgotten.

Ellie and I once had a dinner in Norfolk attended by Ted and Collette and remarked to ourselves afterwards what a great lady she was!

The Wojnar Family. My deepest condolences to all. I’ve known Aunt Keats, Uncle Ted, TJ, Mary-Gayle, Pam and Stephen for a very long time. My Dad, Leo B. Halleran gave Aunt Keats away at her wedding to Uncle Ted and I was a “flower girl”. Had a wonderful visit with all in London. We lost touch for awhile but got connected not to long ago. I’m so very glad I got a chance to see Aunt Keats the summer of 2014 when she stayed in Neptune, NJ on her was up to MA. That memory will always be with me. Rest In Peace. Love, Gingie
