CHESAPEAKE – Cruz Maria Colón-Torres, 82, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. She was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico to the late Luis Antonio Colón Rivera, and Rosaura Ramos Cartagena. Cruz enjoyed reading the bible, cooking, and crocheting or sewing. She was predeceased by her husband Gabriel Torres.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Migdalia Torres of Auburndale, FL, Judith E. Torres of Springfield, MA, Clara I. Valdes (Enrique) of Chesapeake, VA, and Maricruz Colón-Ortiz (Carlos) of Bradenton, FL; siblings, Sergio Cortes of Bronx, NY, Maria Christina Cortes-Justiniano of Puerto Rico, and Milagros Cortes of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Diego, Lushens (Darryl), Steven, Karene, Jennifer, Kathleen (Raul), Erica, Jasmine (Amber), Nayeli, Valeria and Natanael; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A life celebration service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.TMCFunding.com. Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
