Danny Allen Chaffin

September 28, 1954 - December 29, 2017

Danny Allen Chaffin, Sr., 63, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2017. Danny was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Aaron and Mary Chaffin on September 28, 1954.

Danny worked and traveled throughout the east coast before settling his families homestead in Moyock, North Carolina in May of 1983.

United States Army where he served his country honorably from 1972 until 1976. His duty was an amphibious operator and earned a National Defense Service medal. After leaving the Army, Danny worked with Ford Pile where he built local bridges and the foundation to King’s Daughters Hospital and Specialty Marine before starting his own company, Chaffin’s wielding. After working for himself, Danny decided to join the team at (GDIT) General Dynamics Information Technology working on Navy contracts building massive equipment like submarines and ships. He loved his work and his coworkers loved him just as much. Danny worked his way up the ladder of success at GDTI to become their Senior Project Manager, where he retired his post. Danny’s new natural talent for building engines and hotrods that propelled him into building bigger and better muscle cars. He also enjoyed everything that involved the outdoors.

Danny and his wonderful wife Kim, opened Hotrodders Café in February 2012. The family owned and operated business is located in Chesapeake, Virginia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Gisselle Nancy Kim Chaffin; daughter, Amber Chaffin Hooker and her husband David of Moyock, NC; son, Danny Allen Chaffin and his wife Heather of Moyock, NC; grandchildren, Clayvon, Abygale, Alyvia Williams, Luke Chaffin, Nathan Howard and Keenen Walton; brothers, Larry Simmons (CA) and Steve Chaffin (WY); sisters, Barbara Roper, Linda Patrick and Joyce Carpenter. Also by many nieces and nephews that he loved so dearly.

Other than his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Simmons (NC) and Ray Alvarez (NC); nephew Keith Pruden.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 14 at Fellowship Baptist Church (871 Tulls Creek Road, Moyock, NC) at 2:30 PM. Followed by a celebration of life at 172 Shingle Landing Road, Moyock, NC.

Donations to be made to American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
