David Paul Close

David Paul Close passed away Thursday morning Aug. 19, 2021 in his home being cared for by his family. Born April 17, 1972 in Belleville, IL, he is the son of John D. and Aaltje Kroesen Close.

Dave was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to all he came in touch with. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for more than 21 years and served in the Persian Gulf and Iraq. Following his military career, he worked as a Combat Systems Analyst and Port Engineer for T-Solutions retiring after 11 years. Dave loved the Lord and attended Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, where he was active until his health began to fail.

Dave loved Nascar, NHL Hockey and was a huge fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, Major League Baseball and the Chicago Cubs were his team. Finally, Dave, Andrew, and Dani were regulars at Norfolk Admiral Games. He was so proud of Dani as she was the announcer at center ice for one of the Admiral Games.

In addition to his parents of Naples, FL, Dave is survived by his loving wife, Annalissa Clayberg Close; his Son, Andrew M. Close; his 2 daughters, Danielle S. G. Close and Charlotte M. G. Close of the home; 2 sisters, Sylvia Z. Carriero and Tatiana M. Close; 3 brothers, Rick Close and wife Milagro, Jeff Close and wife Kristi, and Tony Close all of Naples, Fl.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 -7:30 P.M. at Altmeyer Funeral Home Chesapeake Chapel, 929 Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake, VA 23322. The Celebration Of Dave’s Life will be Friday August 27, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Tracey Gregory will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in The Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, Dave requested contributions be made to VA-529 for each of the children’s college funds. Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
