Deborah (Debbie) Ann Pittman, 68, passed away in her sister’s home in Virginia Beach, VA on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Debbie was born in Norfolk, VA to Carl and Mary Pittman; the eldest of two children. She was a natural athlete who loved field hockey, softball, racquetball, tennis and watching New York Yankee baseball.  She was the co-captain and first-string player on the Kempsville High School Field Hockey Team and was compared to Harmon Killebrew with her power hitting in Gems Pre-teen softball league.  She went on to play slow pitch softball for Gibson Girl Beauty Salon in her twenties, where she continued to display her athletic prowess while wooing the spectators.
Debbie was a fun-loving, loyal, compassionate, selfless, warm, accepting and generous person who would light up a room and make you smile.  Her disability in 1996 tried to dim her glow, but the light of the love in her heart shown through for her remaining years.  Her carefree loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her sister Mary Ann Kaplan, nephew Zack Kaplan, Zack’s finance Andrea Pezzi and many family members and friends.  Her death was preceded by her loving parents Carl & Mary Pittman and brother-in-law Shepard Kaplan.

Please join us to celebrate her life by attending a visitation Monday, July 19, 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home at 5033 Rouse Drive Virginia Beach and graveside ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA Tuesday, July 20, 2:00 p.m.

Some of the best, funniest & crazy times in our lives were shared with Debbie back in the 80’s & 90’s. She had a heart as big as they come & was the greatest most loving friend anyone could ask for. Our loving thoughts & prayers go out to Maryann & family. RIP my friend

We have so many memories of Debbie, we would not know where to begin. In Debbie’s early years, she was always the life of party. I remember in the later days of her illness, when her memory was getting worse, she would always remember Bill. Not always Gwen, but Bill. LOL. If I tried to reminder her of who I was, I’d say ‘Bill and ……..?’ Then she would say Gwen or Gwennie. We loved her so much and she will be so missed. But she will always be remembered in our hearts!
