Passed Away: April 11, 2021

Denette Marie Smith, 59, of Virginia Beach, passed away in her home on Sunday April 11, 2021.

She was born in New York to Margaret A. Purvis and the late Norman D. Jones. Denette served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and later worked as an office manager for Accurate Marine Environmental. While Denette’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Denette in a way that honors her spirit; compassionate, adventurous, and generous. Denette always provided support and love for her family. She would proudly boast about her two daughters.

In addition to her father, Denette was predeceased by her sister, Donee A. Jones.

Denette is survived by two daughters, Erika Smith and Jamie Smith and their father, Roger Smith; grandson, Harrison Campbell Laffoon; mother, Margaret A. Purvis; five siblings, Louis Jones, Mary Gregory, Denise Roubik, David Jones, and Denial Kohl.

The visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake, Virginia on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with a Ceremony to begin at 2:00pm. A celebration of life will follow immediately at the home of Michael and Denise Roubik.
