At 8:40 on Sunday morning, October 20th our sweet friend Devon, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was the true definition of a fighter and remained a faithful child of God throughout her life journey and ultimately her battle with cancer.
She was in the best care at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach these final weeks of her life. The staff was unbelievably kind, gentle, attentive and loving with her. Her loss is felt deeply in the hearts of all those who knew her. Saturday before her passing was a beautiful day. We opened the doors to her room, wheeled her bed to the opening so she could feel the fresh air as it blew through the opened doors. There was something very peaceful and special about that last day with her. She was a beautiful soul and she’s now resting peacefully and pain free in the arms of our Lord.
Left to cherish her memory are the loves of her life; her daughter, Piper and her fur baby, Penney. A celebration of Devon’s life will be held at 6pm on Friday, November 1st, 2019 at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel in Virginia Beach.

Devon was one of my regular Express Lane customers at my job. I saw her every week and she was always so nice to me even though she was going through such a hard time. It definitely hit hard to find out about her passing. I'm just glad she's in a better place and no longer in pain.
