Diana King, 71, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 in Norfolk, Virginia. Diane was born August 22, 1949 to William Alexander Lewis and Eva Mae Keller in Detroit, Michigan. She received her high school diploma from LaGuardia in New York.
Diana had her first child, a daughter, Sharon, at the age of sixteen. Not long after that she met and married Robert Lee King. That union produced two more children; a son, Terrence “Terry” and a daughter Myrtice “Tena”. Diane’s children were everything to her and so, in 1980, to give them a better life, she moved her three children to San Pablo, California thanks to her job as a travel agent with Pan Am. When Pan Am went out of business, Diana took a data-entry job at Mechanic’s bank. That job didn’t last too long because she loved to travel and help others to travel as well. She finally got a travel agent job with Sato Travel, which gave her back her perks of traveling and helping others to do the same. After the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, Diana and Myrtice moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1991. She was able to transfer her job with Sato Travel to NOB Base. Working with Sato allowed her to travel and to move just about anywhere she wanted to go. She really loved to travel, have cats and small dogs, do puzzles, word searches and scrabble but mainly she enjoyed being around her family and friends.
In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Diana was predeceased by her brother Gregory “Grady” Lewis and her little sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Kollore.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her daughters Sharon L. Hunter and Myrtice King-Gonzalez; son Terrence A. King; son-in-law Heriberto Gonzalez; grandchildren Nicole Alexandria, Tatiana A. L. King, Isaiah King and Zachariah King; great grandchildren Armani Nunn, Jr., Aviana Nunn; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a gamut of loving cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held for Diana King at Altmeyer Funeral Home 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 3pm-5pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 5pm.
