Born in Moundsville, West Virginia to Wynema and Paul Harlan, Sue moved as a small child with her family to Norfolk, where she graduated from Norview High School before marrying and raising her 5 children in Virginia Beach.
Over the years she worked at the National Bank of Commerce, Leggett’s and was co-owner of June & Sue’s Bargain Boutique. Sue loved to shop, socialize with many dear friends, and help people in any way that she could.
Family came first for her but they were not the only ones touched by her generosity and love. Sue enjoyed helping her dear friends over the years, especially Hazel Brooks and Meyera Oberndorf.
At 83 years old, she brought home her beloved chihuahua, Fawn.
She taught her children to live well, love, and forgive often. She did this by setting an excellent example.
Sue is pre-deceased by her parents, her son Don Hoppel, and her siblings, Ken(Ann), Dave and Judith Harlan.
Left to remember her always in their hearts are her husband of 65 years, Joe Hoppel, and her children, Michael(Carole), Terri(Mike), Debbi(Tony), and Judi(Tim), as well as 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to mom’s home health care nurses Stephanie, Latonya and Sandie.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID.
